Popular Pokémon Fossil exhibit to come to Denver Museum of Nature & Science

Trainers, start your countdown. The Pokémon Fossil Museum exhibit is coming to the Denver Museum of Nature & Science on May 28. Denver is only the second North American stop, after the exhibit’s debut at Chicago’s Field Museum. That means Colorado kids, and plenty of grown-ups who still have their GameBoys, won’t need a plane ticket to see it.

The exhibit puts real fossils and specimen casts next to life-size models of Fossil Pokémon. The headliner is a cast of the skull from SUE, the famous T. rex. It’s on display next to Tyrantrum, a Rock/Dragon-type Pokémon whose jaws can supposedly crush a car. Signs throughout the exhibit explain how scientists find and study fossils in the real world and in the Pokémon world. Visitors get to compare the real thing with the version from the games.

The exhibit was created by the Field Museum in Chicago, the National Museum of Nature and Science in Tokyo and The Pokémon Company International. It fits right in at the Denver museum, which has its own real dinosaur fossils and a long history of digging them up across Colorado. Now your kids can learn the difference between a Stegosaurus and an Aerodactyl.

Tickets aren’t on sale yet, but expect them to go fast. Chicago’s Field Museum has warned visitors that tickets are limited because of high demand. Join the Denver museum’s interest list now to get presale access before tickets go on sale to the public.
