One of the longest tenured residents at the Denver Zoo Conservation Alliance has passed away.
The Zoo’s 24-year-old blue-streaked lory, Captain America, that has been at the Zoo since 2002, passed away back on February 6th.
The zoo said Captain was the oldest bird in their Lorikeet Adventure.
“Guests from all over would specifically come to visit Lorikeet Adventure, just to see our one and only blue-streaked lory, Captain America,” Animal Care Specialist Ashley S. said in a statement. “He was a very special bird—he was very confident among the flock and would often steal feeding cups from guests. He spent most of his time with his girlfriend, Toothless. Preening each other, taking baths, playing.”
