A routine bus ride in Colorado Springs took a dramatic turn recently when the driver experienced a medical emergency, losing control of the vehicle.
The driver, a well-loved figure among his colleagues and passengers, fell out of his seat after suffering a seizure. Fortunately, a pair of passengers quickly responded, with one taking control of the steering wheel, safely bringing the bus to a stop, and also using the bus’s radio to call for help.
Elaine Sheridan, a representative from Mountain Metro Transport, expressed gratitude for the heroic actions of the passengers, saying how their quick thinking prevented a potentially tragic accident. She notes that the situation could have been much worse with the bus out of control on a busy road, surrounded by other vehicles, pedestrians, and buildings.
In recognition of their actions, Mountain Metro Transport is searching for the two passengers to reward them. The company plans to give them free bus passes and offer additional gifts as a token of appreciation for their bravery. The city also intends to acknowledge the good Samaritans’ efforts when they’re identified.
