As Denver lines up for an almost 100 degree week, one place you will probably want to avoid jumping in to cool down is Cherry Creek Reservoir, as officials have warned about a toxic blue-green algae outbreak.
The algae which is caused by cyanobacteria is toxic to both humans and pets so officials warn visitors to avoid getting in the water as it can cause rashes, gastrointestinal issues, muscle weakness and vomiting.
The Colorado Department of Health and Environment also says for those who are fishing to make sure you clean your fish thoroughly and dispose of its guts.
While swimming is not recommended, boating is still allowed and if you have additional questions you can call 303-690-1166 ext.1.
