Broncos Country… breathe.
It took every second of overtime, but the Denver Broncos escaped Sunday Night Football with a wild 27–26 win in Washington, extending their incredible win streak to nine straight.
The Broncos opened the scoring early, driving down the field before stalling and settling for a 33-yard field goal. Late in the second quarter, Bo Nix delivered what looked like the play of the night — a falling, off-balance touchdown pass to Courtland Sutton to give Denver a 13–7 lead heading into halftime.
In the third quarter, Washington answered with a one-handed highlight catch by Treylon Burks, a play that instantly lit up social media. In the fourth, Denver struggled to contain Marcus Mariota, who led a late Washington drive to tie the game with a 32-yard field goal.
Overtime was nothing short of chaos.
Denver struck first with a 5-play, 76-yard march, capped by a 5-yard touchdown run from RJ Harvey to take the lead. Moments later, what looked like the game-sealing tipped-pass interception was wiped out due to a pass interference call, giving Washington new life.
They capitalized immediately, hitting a deep 38-yard pass and finishing the drive with a 3-yard touchdown to Terry McLaurin. Down 27–26, Washington elected to go for two and the win.
And that’s when Nik Bonitto became the hero.
On the biggest snap of the night, Bonitto came screaming off the edge, batting down Mariota’s pass and sealing the Broncos’ ninth straight victory.
Up next, the Broncos head to Las Vegas to take on a Raiders team that has dropped six straight, as Denver looks to push this unbelievable streak to double digits.
