This past week, volunteers with Denver’s Snow Angels Program were busy shoveling sidewalks for older residents and individuals with disabilities after a recent snowfall.
The program, which is run by Denver Human Rights and Community Partnerships and has been around for several years, was recently updated with new technology that will help to streamline operations. Automated tools now match volunteers with nearby homes needing assistance, and a dashboard tracks the number of houses shoveled during each storm and year-to-date.
The Snow Angels Program was created to help elderly and disabled residents avoid fines for not clearing pedestrian sidewalks on their properties.
