NASCAR Hall of Famer Kevin Harvick is racing at Colorado National Speedway this weekend

Jul 29, 2026, 4:21 PM

In a sport defined by superspeedways, 200-mph straightaways and stadiums that seat 100,000, one of the greatest drivers in NASCAR history is spending his Saturday at a 3/8-mile oval in Dacono that charges $15 for kids and gives free hot dogs to anyone under 4. Kevin Harvick is coming to Colorado, and it’s not Ball Arena or Empower Field — it’s Colorado National Speedway, the last asphalt short track in the entire state.

Harvick, a NASCAR Cup Series champion with 60 Cup wins, 121 total national series victories and a 2027 NASCAR Hall of Fame induction on the calendar, will appear at Colorado National Speedway this Saturday with the Spears CARS Tour West. The three-day weekend of racing runs Friday through Sunday, with Harvick’s appearance on Saturday’s card alongside Grand American Modified, Legends, Bandolero and — because this is a small-town short track and they know their audience — Figure 8 racing.

For anyone who hasn’t been to Colorado National Speedway, here’s what you need to know: It sits at exit 232 off I-25, about 30 minutes north of Denver and roughly 10 minutes north of 120th Avenue. The track was carved out of 80 acres of farmland at the foot of the Rockies in 1965, started as a one-mile dirt oval, went through a half-mile dirt phase, and took its current paved form in 1989. It hosted the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series from 1995 to 1997, and today it’s the only NASCAR-sanctioned weekly racing track left in Colorado.

Harvick retired from full-time Cup Series racing and has been tearing up the short-track scene since, including a dominant win at this very track during a CARS Tour event last season. His upcoming Hall of Fame induction — alongside Jeff Burton and Larry Phillips — cements his legacy as one of the sport’s all-time greats. And yet here he is, racing on a Saturday night at a family-friendly speedway where you can meet drivers in the hot pits after the races and kids get to help present trophies.
