It’s been quite sometime since we could say that gas stations around Colorado have gas for under $2 a gallon with no promotion or special going on, but it’s happening now!
According to the AAA, a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in Colorado $2.90 a gallon on Tuesday (Jan. 7), and the U.S. average was $3.06. However, there is at least one spot where you can find gas for under $2!
Right off of I-25, about 30 miles north of Denver, you’ll find Firestone, Colorado. This area has become known for the gas wars that have been going on at the local gas stations for years. The good news for consumers in that area is they almost always have the cheapest prices in the state including right now, as travelers have been reporting multiple stations on the Highway 52 exit of I-25 offering gas for $1.99 per gallon.
Probably not cheap enough to warrant a trip from Denver, and who knows how long these prices will last, but here’s to hoping those kind of prices find their way a little further south soon!
