Apr 16, 2024, 4:09 PM | Updated: 4:09 pm

Jelly Roll, the man, is being sued for copyright infringement by Jellyroll, the band. According to a report from Rolling Stone, Jellyroll band leader, Kurt L. Titchenell, claims his band has been using the name since 1980. They received a trademark for the name that was renewed in 2019. Arguments in the suit include trademark and trade name infringement and unfair competition. The suit also points out that search engines like Google have consistently prioritized Jelly Roll’s results over Jellyroll the band, significantly injuring their online exposure. The band’s attorneys are requesting the courts prevent Jelly Roll and/or any of his representatives from using the name during the course of legal action. So far, Jelly Roll and his team have not commented publicly on the suit.
