Free corn offered to the public in Colorado after truck spills

I always wondered what they did with food from trucks after it spills on the highway. and after finding out, I’ve never hoped a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup truck would spill near my house more…
The Custer County Sheriff’s Office in Colorado says free sweet corn is being offered to residents after it spilled out of a semi following a crash on Highway 69 near Mile Point 69, just north of Reed Road.
The sheriff’s office says the crash happened around 2 a.m. on Thursday (Aug. 28), and thankfully the driver was not injured, but the truck did dump its load of corn after it flipped.
So now the corn is being taken to the Wet Mountain Fire Protection District in Westcliffe, where residents can pick up some of the corn. First responders just ask that those coming out do not block fire truck bays in case crews have to leave for an emergency.
Westcliffe is about a two and a half hour drive from Denver, just in case you were thinking about making the trip for some free corn.
