It feels like perfect timing, as the Broadway production of “Lion King” is about to come to Denver, and now four African lion cubs will make their public debut at the Denver Zoo.

Thursday, the Denver Zoo Conservation Alliance will show off their four lion cubs, one male and three females, to zoo visitors for the first time.

The cubs have been growing behind the scenes for nearly two months. Mom, Araali, and Dad, Usiku, welcomed the cubs on Aug. 13, after a 115-day pregnancy.

An addition of four healthy lion cubs marks a big moment for the future of lions, with the cubs being born as part of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ African Lion Species Survival Plan.

The cubs, which are till nameless, are expected to be outside daily from 9:30-11:30 a.m., unless the weather takes a turn for the worse and the cubs have to go back inside for shelter.
