Former Denver Nugget Russell Westbrook announces retirement

After 18 seasons in the NBA, Russell Westbrook announced his retirement on his social media accounts.

Russell Westbrook played for the Denver Nuggets during the 2024-2025 season before moving on to the Sacramento Kings for his final season.

Through his career, he also played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Washington Wizards, Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers.

He’s a nine-time NBA All Star, two-time NBA All Star Game MVP and retired fifth in NBA history in career assists.

He currently leads the NBA with 209 career triple doubles, with the Nuggets Nikola Jokic right behind him with 198.
