Denver’s Halloween Parade needs $25k before October 1

The Broadway Halloween Parade is Denver’s only “official” Halloween parade, but for the second year in a row, it’s on the verge of not happening.

The event on Broadway in the Baker neighborhood has drawn crowds of upwards of 30,000 people since it started in 2016, but new safety measures requiring barricades have caused financial hardship. Last year, the parade needed $26,000 in a short amount of time to make the event happen. Luckily, people chipped in and it happened, but they’re going to need it again this year.

Everything has gotten more expensive and the parade now needs to add new pedestrian barricades south of Alameda Avenue. These costs leave them still needing to raise $25,000 by Oct. 1 to make the parade happen. While they had some money saved up, they still needed to fundraise more than $60,000 to hit the total budget, which is around $85,000.

The parade is hosting its first-ever Broadway Halloween Parade Bar Crawl on Oct. 10 to raise money. They’re also in talks with smaller sponsors and are still looking for parade sponsors.

If the money can be raised, the parade will continue its annual tradition on Saturday, Oct. 25.
