Denver’s Casa Bonita closed for ‘foul odor’ so strong it made people sick

Of course I am writing this article the day before I finally got a reservation into the “new version” of Casa Bonita…
Yahoo News is reporting that the iconic Denver Mexican restaurant had to close early on Friday night (Nov. 15) because it got really stinky inside!
The closure happened about 15 minutes before the restaurant was slated to close as a strong odor of sewage reportedly got worse as the evening went on. So bad that at least one patron got physically sick while leaving.
So what was the cause? A representative for Casa Bonita said there was an issue with the city of Lakewood’s system, and the restaurant did close 15 minutes early. However, the restaurant reopened on Saturday with no issues.
The city of Lakewood didn’t seem to agree, though, as they said in a statement to FOX31: “The city doesn’t provide water or sanitary sewer service to the restaurant. Casa Bonita’s sanitary sewer provider is East Jefferson County Sanitation District,” said city spokesperson, Stacie Oulton. She added, “Our street maintenance also checked the mains in the street in the area and found all of our city main lines are flowing perfectly with absolutely zero issues. That would indicate it’s with the restaurant’s service line or internal issue.”
So what I am gathering is maybe someone just had a really “bad reaction” to the new food and stunk the joint up? Fingers crossed my stomach is more prepared for our visit tomorrow night!
