If you’re one of those people who reaches for the barf bag anytime a plane starts to shake a little bit… You may want to avoid Denver International Airport!
DIA is one of the worst airports for turbulence in the United States, but not the worst. The number one airport for turbulence is Portland International Airport according to Turbli.com. The score they gave Portland is 15.201.
Turbli ranks airports annually based on the average turbulence scale and Denver ranks as the second worst by only 0.019 points, coming in at 15.182.
None of the airports in the United States made the list where the turbulence is the worst in the world, though. Airports in Tokyo, Osaka, and Christchurch were all ranked worse than both Denver or Portland. The worst airport in the entire world for turbulence is the airport in Santiago, Chile. Turbli ranks Santiago (SCL) Airport’s average turbulence at an astonishing 17.137.
