Denver doubles Seattle’s precipitation since May 1

I made the joke the other day that it feels like we’ve moved to Seattle with all the rain we’ve had in Denver lately…turns out it wasn’t really a joke, but actually kind of true!
Our partners at 9News pointed out that since May 1, Denver International Airport recorded approximately four inches of precipitation, compared to the usual average of 2.25 inches for the same period.
That number is double what Seattle has seen in the same timeframe. Other characteristically rainy cities like Portland and San Francisco have also seen less moisture than Denver in the last month plus.
Oh, and we aren’t out of the woods either. Denver has at least some rain in the forecast every day through Sunday before a much drier week starting Monday.
