Elementary school kids climbing on to a school bus

We’re just weeks away now, in some cases, to school beginning. While many parents will think back to the days where school started after Labor Day, schools in the Denver metro are starting much earlier, in some cases. Here’s the list of start dates:

Adams 12 Five Star Schools: Wednesday, Aug. 14, for students in kindergarten through ninth grade; Thursday, Aug. 15, for older students

Adams County School District 14: Friday, Aug. 9, for students in kindergarten, sixth or ninth grade; Monday, Aug. 12, for all other students

Aurora Public Schools: Tuesday, Aug. 6, for grades 1-12; Monday, Aug. 12, for kindergarten and preschool

Boulder Valley School District: Wednesday, Aug. 14, for grades 1-5, 6 and 9; Thursday, Aug. 15, for grades 7-8 and 10-12

Cherry Creek School District: Monday, Aug. 12

Denver Public Schools: Monday, Aug. 19

Douglas County School District: Wednesday, Aug. 7

Englewood Schools: Tuesday, Aug. 13, for middle and high school students; Thursday, Aug. 15, for elementary schools

Jeffco Public Schools: Wednesday, Aug. 14

Littleton Public Schools: Friday, Aug. 16

Sheridan School District: Tuesday, Aug. 13

Westminster Public Schools: Tuesday, Aug. 13, for grades 1-12 in most schools; Wednesday, Aug. 14, for innovation and magnet schools; Aug. 15 for kindergarten

Mapleton Public Schools: Most students go back on Monday, Aug. 12, preschoolers start Thursday, Aug. 22.
