Sure, skiing and boarding may be the most popular winter activity in Colorado, but don’t sleep on the Ice Castles.
Continuing a tradition from last year, there will be two different locations to checkout the popular attraction again this year. One Ice Castle will be built in Cripple Creek. A second will be constructed in Summit County, in partnership with the Outlets at Silverthorne.
In other recent years, an Ice Castle was constructed in Dillon opposed to Silverthorne. That said, the Silverthorne attraction will be a sort of homecoming, with Silverthorne also being where the first commercial Ice Castles “came to life” 15 years ago.
The Ice Castles consist of more than 20 million pounds of ice per castle. Aside from massive walls of ice, the castles also feature colorful lights, slides, and fountains.
Depending on the weather, the attraction will open in late December.
