Colorado’s high country prepares for up to four feet of snow

Alright, Colorado, buckle up—this is the biggest winter wallop we’ve seen all season, and it’s already rolling in. The National Weather Service is saying some of the high peaks could get absolutely buried with over four feet of snow. Yeah…more than 48 inches. That’s not “cute little flurries,” that’s “where’d my car go?”

And, obviously, if you’ve got skis or a snowboard within reach, this storm is about to light up the ski areas across the state. We’re talking double-digit totals pretty much everywhere through the weekend.

But the real head-turner? Wolf Creek. OpenSnow is calling for about 45 inches between Tuesday and Saturday. That’s the kind of forecast that makes you cancel plans you didn’t even have. Wolf Creek’s sitting at 110 inches for the season so far as of Feb. 17—so adding another 45 inches? That’s a whole new level of “bring the snorkel” powder.

Wolf Creek’s the runaway leader on this one, and then you’ve got Purgatory and Crested Butte next in line with forecasts around 31 inches and 28 inches through Saturday. Plenty to go around…but Wolf Creek is about to be the main character.
