If you live anywhere near Briggsdale, Colorado, you may want to start preparing to see and hear a lot of things that are unusual for Colorado.
When you think of rocket launches, normally it’s Florida, Houston and maybe even Alabama, but definitely not Briggsdale, Colorado. Soon, though, rockets will be a part of the small Weld County town.
Ursa Major is located in Berthoud, near I-25. They design and make capabilities for hypersonics, solid rocket motors, in-space propulsion and launch. They got their start in 2015, and now, ten years later, they’re breaking ground on what would be a new rocket engine testing site outside of Briggsdale.
The test site will be 400 acres, which is about the size of 300 football fields. I am actually surprised that Briggsdale has that much land to offer.
