‘Bucky’ the Big White Bronco on Top of Mile High Stadium is Back Home

As exciting as it is that Empower Field at Mile High will soon have one of the largest video boards in the NFL, it has been a little sad driving by on I25 and not seeing the iconic white horse on the top of the stadium during construction…
“Bucky the Bronco” was lifted by crane Thursday and returned to the top of the South Stands scoreboard at Empower Field at Mile High.
The 27-foot-tall fiberglass horse was removed in January as part of $100 million in upgrades to the Broncos’ stadium this offseason.
The iconic horse statue has been returned now that the stadium’s video screen has been nearly doubled in height. When complete by the start of the NFL season in August, the Broncos’ main video board will rank as the fourth-largest single scoreboard in an NFL stadium at 72 feet high and 225 feet wide.
Bucky originally stood on the south stands’ scoreboard at Mile High Stadium before being removed in 2001 and moved to then-Invesco Field at Mile High with a fresh coat of paint.
Bucky the Bronco was modeled after Trigger, the famous horse in Roy Rogers’ Western films.
Guess who’s back? Back again.
