Head coach Sean Payton initially addressed the media following the game before heading back to the locker room. About 10 minutes later, Payton returned — this time in street clothes — to deliver a major update.
Payton announced that quarterback Bo Nix suffered a broken ankle on the second-to-last play of the game. Nix is scheduled to undergo surgery on Tuesday, and the injury will rule him out for the remainder of the season.
“We felt like it’d be best to just tell everyone now.”
