Blake Shelton: “Hell Right” Ain’t A Diss Track

Ah, Blake Shelton and Trace Adkins. They have a bromance that stretches back to 2004 and it’s still going strong! As seem here:

Recently, they reunited for a new barn-burner (co-written by Hardy) called “Hell Right”! It premiered on 98.5 KYGO last Friday, August 16.

Almost immediately, folks were raising hell about a verse that mentions the (now historic) song “Old Town Road”.

“Then the girl from the small town took off the “Old Town” / Put on a little Hank Jr. / (Thank God)”

In an interview, Hardy said that “Hell Right” was written in May. He and his fellow co-writers were paying homage to Hank Williams Jr. with that verse and that’s it.

Meanwhile, when Blake Shelton was quizzed over the verse, he said that he and Trace “[were] absolutely not throwing any kind of shade at Lil Nas X at all.” He also said “this literally has nothing to do with anything at all except how much the song is played. It could have been Achy Breaky Heart or any other (over-played) song.”

Blake Shelton then apparently took the whole thing a step further and reached out to Billy Ray Cyrus. A spokesperson for Shelton told Variety that Shelton and Cyrus have spoken “and [Cyrus] thought it was funny.”

So there you have it! Folks on the internet may need to take a page from Taylor Swift’s book and Calm Down!
