Beyond the Badge – Officer Gabe Evans

This week, we salute Officer Gabe Evans of the Arvada Police Department. Officer Evans has been an Arvada Police Officer since 2011. In that time, he has served as a patrol officer and a Field Trainer for new recruit. He is currently assigned to the traffic unit. His duties include monitoring problematic traffic areas, conducting school zone enforcement and investigating routine traffic accidents. Officer Evans is a member of the critical accident response team, where he helps to reconstruct complex, serious or fatal accidents.
Officer Evans has also been a member of the Army National Guard since 2007. He is the current commander of a UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter company in the Denver area. A Blackhawk helicopter pilot himself, Officer Evans has deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He has also responded to emergencies and disaster areas in the State of Colorado, where he and his aircrews have battled wildfires and floods, and have conducted search and rescue missions in the Colorado Rocky Mountains.
Officer Evans is married and the father of two boys. The whole family enjoys hiking, fishing, and canoeing. Officer Evans is an avid reader, and enjoys studying history, culture, and sociology. He and his wife are active participants in their local church, are licensed foster parents, and are involved in other charity and outreach programs.
