Colorado ‘Balloon Boy’ hoax to be featured in Netflix docuseries

October 15, 2009, all eyes were on Colorado as what would be known as the “Balloon Boy hoax” began to unfold! And now, that dramatic story will be told in an upcoming Netflix docuseries called “Trainwreck“.

Back in 2009, cameras were locked in on a UFO-like balloon floating above Northern Colorado, and during its 90 minute flight, authorities were told by Richard and Mayumi Heene that their son Falcon was trapped inside. The balloon flew about 50 miles before landing in a field, minus one Falcon Heene. It was later discovered that he had been in the attic of the family’s home the entire time. And soon, Falcon would be known to the world as “balloon boy.” Falcon famously seemed to out the family’s hoax during an interview which he told Wolf Blitzer that “You guys said we did this for the show.”

The Balloon Boy saga will be one of many stories featured on “Trainwreck,” which Netflix says will explore “everything from disastrous festivals, political scandals and media hoaxes to cult-like corporations and reality TV disasters.”

The show will debut on Netflix this week on June 10 with new episodes released weekly, and the “Balloon Boy” episode will be released on July 15.
