Another train derailment in Colorado, hundreds of gallons of diesel fuel spilled

Feb 8, 2024, 7:28 AM

For the second time in as many months, Colorado has had another train derailment, this time spilling hundreds of gallons of diesel fuel.

The accident happened in Loveland, Colorado on Wednesday morning when a locomotive derailed off a switch. Loveland Fire Rescue Authority reported that while the train did not tip over, there was a puncture to a fuel tank which resulted in the massive fuel spill.

The spill was contained, though, and did not get into the water.

A week and a half ago, an Amtrak train derailed in northern Colorado.
