The World Series ended this week. Milwaukee won its first championship, and the sportsbooks are already posting odds for 2027. You can probably guess who’s at the bottom. The Rockies have the longest odds in Major League Baseball to win next year’s title. DraftKings has them at 500-1, and FanDuel has them at 300-1.
The Rockies aren’t just last. They’re last by a lot. At FanDuel, the next-worst team is Cincinnati at 150-1, so Colorado’s odds are twice as long as anyone else’s. The Dodgers are the favorites at about 3.6-1, followed by the Brewers, Yankees, Rays and Red Sox. One more cheerful note: the Rockies are now one of the few franchises that have never won a World Series.
There’s some good news, sort of. The Rockies were 15 games better in 2026 than in 2025, though they still finished with the worst record in baseball for the second straight year. Rookie TJ Rumfield is also a finalist for a Gold Glove. And there’s precedent for a big turnaround: the Chicago White Sox opened 2026 at 500-1 and ended the year as one of baseball’s surprise stories. They’re now 30-1 for 2027.
So should you put $10 on the Rockies just in case? At DraftKings, that would pay $5,000 if they pull it off. Maybe think of it like a lottery ticket you also get to cheer for. And if it doesn’t work out, Rockies fans already know the routine: there’s always the Broncos and the Nuggets and next year.
