Colorado horses head to Kansas City for FIFA World Cup security

Jun 11, 2026, 9:54 AM | Updated: 9:55 am

Because apparently, hooves speak louder than words.

If you thought getting your kids to soccer practice was a big deal, wait until you hear this.

The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office Mounted Unit is heading to Kansas City, Missouri, to help provide security during FIFA World Cup matches at Arrowhead Stadium. Three deputies and four very well-trained horses will be on the ground — literally — monitoring crowds and identifying security concerns.

And yes, before you ask, these horses are ready for the job. They’ve been specially trained to handle high-stress environments, which honestly sounds like every school pickup line ever.

The mounted unit will serve as both security support and community ambassadors during the games, partnering with law enforcement from other states to keep fans safe while the world’s biggest soccer tournament rolls through the Midwest.

It’s a massive moment for a local Colorado unit, and frankly, we love to see it.

So the next time your daughter complains that soccer is just a local thing, remind her that Colorado is literally sending horses to the World Cup.

Pretty cool, right?
