Denver Airport’s Triple Escalator Is Closed & Here’s What You Need to Know Before Your Next Trip

Jun 9, 2026, 10:45 AM

Because the last thing you need is to be late for your flight AND confused.

Denver, we need to talk.

If you’ve got travel plans coming up — and let’s be honest, with Summer vacation season, many of us do — you’ll want to know that the iconic triple escalator at Denver International Airport is officially out of commission for the next ten months.

DIA confirmed the escalator, which takes travelers from security down to the trains, closed overnight Tuesday. The reason? Construction of an escalator lid as part of the final completion phase of the Great Hall program.

“Construction begins tonight on our triple escalator lid,” the airport shared on social media. “It’s part of the completion phase of our Great Hall program.”

So basically, DIA is still doing its thing — still under construction, still keeping us on our toes. Classic.

What does this mean for you? Plan ahead, give yourself extra time, and maybe wear comfortable shoes. (You were going to anyway, right?)

The good news — this is the completion phase, meaning there is actually a light at the end of this very long, very expensive tunnel.

Ten months. You’ve got this, Denver.
