As the NHL trade deadline passed at 1 p.m. today, there was no immediate news about a possible reunion between the Colorado Avalanche and Nazem Kadri, a key piece of the team’s 2022 Stanley Cup run. But nearly an hour after the deadline officially closed, reports surfaced that the Avalanche had submitted a trade just before the cutoff — bringing Kadri back to Colorado.
According to Avalanche PR, the team has acquired Nazem Kadri and a 2027 fourth-round draft pick from the Calgary Flames. In exchange, Colorado is sending forward Victor Olofsson, the rights to unsigned draft pick Max Curran, a conditional 2028 first-round draft pick, and a conditional 2027 second-round draft pick to Calgary.
Kadri was a major contributor during the Avalanche’s 2022 Stanley Cup championship season, making his return a notable move for Colorado as the team looks to strengthen its roster for another playoff push.
