CBS hosts ‘Survivor’ scavenger hunt in Colorado

“Survivor” may not be bringing any Colorado contestants back for its upcoming all-star season, but local fans can still get a taste of the game — without leaving the state.

CBS is launching a nationwide Survivor-themed scavenger hunt tied to the show’s milestone 50th season. The premise borrows from one of the franchise’s most recognizable twists: the hidden immunity idol, typically tucked into trees or buried on the beach. This time, there’s one idol hidden in each of the 50 states.

Colorado’s hunt is now underway, with the first clue posted on the official Survivor 50 Challenge website. Solving it will point fans to a well-known Colorado landmark, where they’ll need to go in person to find the idol.

The Colorado search site will be open to registered hunters from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, and during the same hours each day for about a week. Participants must register through the challenge website. Organizers say hunters should plan for about an hour-long hike; the location is not ADA-accessible.

The first clue reads: “Not Manitou, but just as steep/Where wooden steps in silence creep/Beneath a butte, a castle’s base/This hill will test your heart and pace.”

Fans who locate the idol must take a photo of it and submit the image through the website to be entered into a sweepstakes with other Colorado winners. After the hunt ends, one entrant will be selected at random to receive the grand prize: two tickets to the live post-finale reunion for Season 50.
