You’d think the Olympics would source the best medal-makers in the entire world, but it seems as though this year they got the medals on Wish.com or something…
Several athletes found their medals broke off their ribbons within hours of winning them during the opening weekend. Organizers said their “maximum attention” was working on a fix, but clearly they haven’t found one yet.
Elizabeth Lemley, of Vail, Colorado, who took home gold for Team USA in the women’s moguls final, was still celebrating on the podium when the ribbon holding her gold medal around her neck snapped.
Lemley still celebrated with her team, coaches and family, hoisting the golden disk above her head along with a plushie of the Olympic mascot, Milo.
