LOOK – Denver Zoo welcomes endangered eastern bongo calf

Before today, I’d never even heard of an eastern bongo, but all of a sudden they’re one of my favorite animals…

The Denver Zoo Conservation Alliance just announced the arrival of the newest member of their eastern bongo herd, a critically endangered antelope, and she is so cute!

The female calf, who does not yet have a name, was born July 5 to parents Howard and Fern, and is already in the public-facing exhibit at the zoo.

The eastern (or mountain) bongo is only found in a mountain forested region of central Kenya – near Mt. Kenya and the Aberdare mountains, and there are only fewer than 200 eastern bongos estimated to be remaining in the wild.

Here are some pictures of the new calf.
