If you didn’t already know, there’s a good chance you have Thursday (June 19) off for Juneteenth, which is now a federal holiday. If you need some plans, how about a National Park as they’re free for the holiday?
Entrance fees to all 63 of the nation’s national parks, including the four in Colorado that charge a fee, will be waived on Thursday as the National Park Service commemorates Juneteenth.
The fees are waived in light of Juneteenth, celebrated on June 19 in America, known as the oldest commemoration related to the abolition of slavery.
The four Colorado national parks that charge a fee to enter are Rocky Mountain, the Great Sand Dunes, Mesa Verde and the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. Each park charges a different fee, but some are as much as $30 per vehicle on most days.
