No one will ever wear the number 12 or the number 2 again while playing for the University of Colorado football team, and some fans think it may not be warranted…
Both Shedeur Sanders’ (#2) & Travis Hunter’s (#12) numbers will be retired by the school’s football team after their contributions to the squad the last two seasons.
Of course Hunter won college football’s highest individual honor, the Heisman Trophy last season, but outside of that many are saying the duo may be undeserving… They went 13-12 in their 25 games at CU, and didn’t win a bowl game.
Some are comparing Sanders and Hunter to the career of the great Kordell Stewart, who played for CU in the 90’s, going 27-5 as a starter for the Buffaloes, was a First Team All-Big 8 and Second Team All-American in 1994 and won the Fiesta Bowl to finish No. 3 in the country and does not have his jersey retired.
Colorado said it will retire the numbers at the school’s Spring Game at Folsom Field on Saturday (April 19).
They will join four other Colorado players who have their numbers retired… Rashaan Salaam’s No. 19, Byron White’s No. 24, Joe Romig’s No. 67 and Bobby Anderson’s No. 11.
