Rockies’ home opener will be cold, but not the coldest ever

When the Colorado Rockies take the field at home for the first time Friday afternoon, it’s going to be cold! However, it won’t even be close to as cold as it has been for a home opener in the past…
In 2018, the temps read 27 degrees at the time of the first pitch, making that the coldest opening day at Coors Field.
This year likely won’t see temps that low, as forecasters say Denver will be around 40 at first pitch. Still, that would put us in the conversation for the coldest opening days with 2004 being 37 and 1995 registering 42 degrees.
Snow is also in the forecast tomorrow though, and the only time it snowed during a home opener was the 1995 game…that will likely change tomorrow!
Denver’s time and temperature hotline still gets a ton of calls
