World population hitting 8 billion on January 1st

As the world celebrates a new year on January 1st, 2024 will be  kicking off with a population topping 8 billion people.  

The population of the world grew by over 75 million people this year with just under 1% of growth according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

Growth in the United States was about half that rate with 0.53% growth with 1.7 million people being added putting us at 335.8 million people to kick of 2024.

Locally, Colorado gained over 36,000 new people which was close to the national average and putting us just below 5.9 million people.
