Who has the best burritos in Denver?

Today is National Burrito Day (April 2), and Denver residents looking to celebrate with something beyond chain-restaurant deals have plenty of highly rated local options.

The annual holiday, observed on the first Thursday in April sees some national chains are offering promotions for the occasion. Qdoba rewards members can get a free burrito or bowl with the purchase of an entree and a drink. Chipotle is offering free delivery on digital orders. El Pollo Loco is running a buy-one-get-one-free burrito deal. And Moe’s Southwest Grill rewards members can get a buy-one-get-one-free burrito or bowl through April 2.

But for those who prefer to go local, Yelp’s current rankings point to these as the 10 best burrito spots in Denver:

  1. Taqueria La Familia — Highland. 4.7 stars, 520 reviews. “Hands down best burrito I’ve had,” one reviewer wrote.
  2. Bonfire Burritos — Golden. 4.4 stars, 772 reviews.
  3. Kikés Red Tacos — Northwest Denver. 4.4 stars, 315 reviews. Known for its al pastor burrito with crunchy fries inside.
  4. La Loteria Taqueria — Speer. 4.2 stars, 333 reviews. Reviewers praise the California burrito and tacos de asada.
  5. Renegade Burrito — Denver. A newer entry drawing strong reviews.
  6. La Abeja — Uptown. 4.5 stars, 241 reviews. Called “one of the best breakfast burrito spots in Denver.”
  7. El Gordo Taqueria — Denver. 4.3 stars. Family-owned and operated for 17 years, known for authentic Mexican street-style burritos.
  8. Gomez Burritos — Northwest Denver. 3.8 stars, 182 reviews. Praised for “great breakfast burritos for ridiculously cheap prices.”
  9. Chivis Tacos — Northeast Denver. 4.6 stars, 37 reviews. Reviewers highlight the burritos and birria tacos.
  10. Los Carboncitos — Northwest Denver. 3.8 stars, 432 reviews. A longtime takeout favorite.
