WATCH – Video of the Bear That Attacked a Colorado Security Guard

Oct 26, 2023, 3:39 PM

Can you imagine turning a corner at work and being confronted by a giant angry bear? Well, you don’t have to imagine anymore because it happened to a guy in Colorado, and the whole thing was caught on camera.

The attack occurred yesterday (Oct. 25th) as a security guard was investigating a kitchen area at the St. Regis Aspen Resort after a report was received of a bear on the property. Security cameras at the hotel captured the bear attacking the security guard by swiping the guard on his back and knocking him to the ground after the guard surprised the bear in the kitchen area.

The guard was able to get away from the bear and call 911, but not before suffering scratches to his back, wildlife officials said. The guard was taken to a hospital to be treated for his injuries. He was released from the hospital Tuesday morning, Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) said.

Once the bear was found and positively identified, officers were able to haze it into a tree and tranquilize it. The bear was then taken from the area and euthanized per Colorado Parks and Wildlife policy.
