Unicorn Frappe is back and baristas are dreading it

Jun 14, 2026, 10:51 AM

The Unicorn Frappuccino is back — and not everyone is thrilled.

Starbucks has confirmed its legendary pink-and-blue blended beverage will return for one weekend later this summer, but baristas across the country are bracing for impact.

Originally introduced in April 2017 for just five days, the Unicorn Frappuccino was an instant social media sensation — and an instant headache behind the counter.

Baristas complained loudly about the drink’s complex, multi-step preparation process and the operational chaos it created during peak hours.

This time around, industry experts warn the revival will bring long lines snaking through stores and drive-thrus as nostalgia-driven customers rush to get their hands on the colorful concoction.

Baristas, meanwhile, expect to be burned out by the crushing demand.

Magical for customers. Miserable for the people making it.
