U-Haul report says basically no one moved into Colorado in 2024

Jan 6, 2025, 5:15 PM | Updated: Jan 7, 2025, 9:04 am

Colorado natives who’ve had those “Colorado: No Vacancy” bumper stickers on their Subaru’s for years will love this!

U-Haul ranks every state annually for its Growth Index to determine the hottest destinations people are moving to by analyzing one-way rentals of its trucks, trailers and moving containers throughout the year. In 2024 those big orange and white trucks were not headed to Colorado much…

Our state has been ranked among the top 10 growth states by U-Haul four times in the last decade. In 2023, Colorado was the company’s ninth-best growth state, but in 2024 Colorado fell 31 places to No. 40, marking the largest ranking drop of any state this year.

The top states for 2024 were South Carolina, Texas, North Carolina, Florida and Tennessee. California was ranked last for the fifth year in a row.

Check out U-Haul’s full study here.
