If you ever wanted to be on a Netflix show, these may be a couple of your best chances!
Two stand-up specials are set to be filmed for Netflix in Denver in the coming months.
Comedy Works Entertainment announced Tuesday that comedian Tom Papa will tape his next Netflix special during two shows at the Paramount Theatre on Oct. 24.
The shows, part of Papa’s “Grateful Bread Tour,” are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. Tickets go on sale Friday, April 10, at 10 a.m. at ParamountDenver.com.
Separately, Denver native Noah Gardenswartz will return to his hometown to film a comedy special titled “Wanna Bet” on April 23 at the Elaine Wolf Theatre at the Mizel Arts and Culture Center, 350 S. Dahlia St.
The show begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at tickets.jccdenver.org.
“Wanna Bet” is described as “a hilarious analysis of Noah Gardenswartz’s personal history of gambling,” covering everything from the sports book and the stock market to the craps table and crypto. The special revisits stories from his formative years that shaped his appetite for risk.
Denver has become a popular filming location for comedy specials, with Comedy Works in particular serving as a launchpad for nationally distributed sets. Comedian Beth Stelling filmed “The Landlord Special” at Comedy Works, and several of John Heffron’s most-watched sets were recorded on the same stage.
