Today is ‘National Shower with a Friend Day,’ a holiday invented in Colorado

Feb 5, 2024, 3:32 PM

We’ve long established the fact that there is a national day for everything and today is just more proof… It’s “National Shower with a Friend Day.” Although it sounds like it might be kind of fun, I likely wouldn’t have written an article about it except for the fact that it was invented in our state of Colorado.

The holiday started, innocently enough, when a Colorado company called New Wave Enviro encouraged people to take showers with a “friend,” meaning its all-new shower filter. Their reasoning? According to the company: “Your body absorbs more chlorine through the skin and lungs while showering than while drinking tap water.”

Now every year we celebrate (whether it be with a new shower filter or an actual friend) on the 5th of February.

New Wave is a employee-owned company with “Enviro Products” that are designed to inspire and support healthy, active living. Since 1993 their complete line of Enviro Filters, Reusable Water bottles, and Litter Free Lunch products have been available at Health, Natural Food, and Supplement stores around the world.
