The World’s First Rodeo is a Short Drive From Denver, and Celebrates 154 Years This Weekend

Anytime you can say you’re the first do something its pretty neat. Did you know a small Colorado town has that claim to fame when it comes to rodeo?

Deer Trail, Colorado held the world’s first rodeo in 1869, and they continue the tradition each July to this day!

This weekend Deer Trail will celebrate their 154th anniversary on Friday and Saturday.

Friday night (July 7th) will feature a rodeo at 6 p.m. followed by a concert from the 90’s country band Double Wide.

Saturday (July 8th) bring the parade at 1 p.m., another rodeo at 6 p.m., and a concert from Austin Wahlert and Liza Jo to conclude the event.

Tickets for each rodeo include admission to that night’s concert and can be purchased right at the gate of the fairgrounds in Deer Trail the day of each event.
