The Rest of the World Seems Confused By Mutton Bustin’ As Seen at the Denver Broncos Game

Nov 28, 2023, 3:21 PM

I suppose if you’re not used to it, watching a kid ride a sheep could be somewhat weird… But in Colorado it’s just another sport like football or baseball. The sport of ‘mutton bustin’ got a few funny looks this weekend as it was featured at the Denver Broncos game.

Every county fair, rodeo, and of course the National Western Stock Show, features mutton bustin’ in Colorado, but other folks from around the world aren’t as familiar with the sport, so when the Broncos busted the sport out for their halftime show this weekend, some people were left wondering, what the heck?!

The Stock Show brought the excitement of mutton bustin’ to Empower Field at Mile High, with children aged 5-7 mounting a sheep and attempting to hold on for as long as possible. Decked in safety vests and helmets, the young riders earn scores based on their duration on the sheep and the distance across the arena.

Check out some of the interesting comments on the video shared by the NFL on Fox…
