Through the Tim Tebow and Peyton Manning years was thing was always there for the Denver Broncos… Demaryius Thomas. One of the best receivers the team ever had, and an even better human off the field. The late-Bronco will receive one of the team’s highest honors this weekend!
Thomas will be posthumously inducted into the Broncos Ring of Fame during this week’s Alumni Weekend festivities, which will conclude with the Broncos’ Week 7 game against the New York Giants on Sunday (Oct. 19).
During Alumni Weekend, the Broncos will also honor the 10th anniversary of their Super Bowl 50 title and welcome back players, coaches and staff from that team. Approximately 150 alumni will be in attendance, including Super Bowl 50 captains and Pro Football Hall of Famers Peyton Manning and DeMarcus Ware.
Thomas will be represented throughout the weekend by his parents, Katina Smith and Bobby Thomas, and many other family members will also be in attendance.
Thomas and the Super Bowl 50 team will be honored at a private reception on Saturday night, when Broncos Owner & CEO Greg Penner and Owner Carrie Walton Penner will present Thomas’ parents with his Ring of Fame jacket and ring.
Thomas’ Ring of Fame pillar will then be unveiled to the public on Sunday morning before the game. The pillar unveiling will take place at 11:30 a.m. at Ring of Fame Plaza on the south end of Empower Field at Mile High. Voice of the Broncos Dave Logan will emcee the unveiling, which will also feature Super Bowl 50 head coach Gary Kubiak and Thomas’ parents.
During halftime of Sunday’s game, the Super Bowl 50 team will be honored and Thomas’ name will be unveiled on the Level 5 façade of the stadium.
A five-time Pro Bowler, Thomas will become the 38th Ring of Famer in franchise history in his first year of eligibility. Thomas, who unexpectedly passed away in 2021, ranks second in franchise history in career receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. He also holds the team’s single-season and single-game receiving records.
