Colorado Rockies wish their $182 million bust ‘happy birthday’ on social media, fans are not having it

The Colorado Rockies have been terrible for too long now, so I guess it’s fair that the player who makes the most money on the team (by a lot) and has contributed very little catches flack from fans…even on his birthday!
Kris Bryant received the highest contract in team history by signing a 7-year, $182 million free-agent deal with Colorado in March 2022. Over four years, he’s only played 170 games, hitting .244 (154 hits in 632 at-bats) with 17 home runs, 61 RBIs, and an OPS of .695…not the production you want out of any players on a Major League roster, let alone your big money guy.
So, when the Rockies posted a “happy birthday” message for Bryant on social media to celebrate his 34th trip around the sun, let’s just say the comments weren’t very nice, the post saw comments like, “Why did you post this?,” “He’s still on the team?,” “I forgot he even existed,” “That guy will go to the bank smiling” and “Retire as a birthday gift.”
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Bryant still has three years remaining on his contract through 2028, with an annual salary of $27 million and a total remaining amount of $81 million.
