Steamboat Sets Closing Date After Unseasonably Warm Winter

Mar 18, 2026, 12:01 PM | Updated: 12:02 pm

Steamboat Resort will close a week early this year, citing a mild winter.

The resort announced Wednesday that it will end the season April 12, a week earlier than last year, but will cap the year with events for guests.

Steamboat is planning an end-of-season celebration, including its annual Cardboard Classic on Saturday, April 11, where participants race homemade sleds. A free concert in Steamboat Square follows at 3:30 p.m.

On Sunday, April 12, the resort will host its annual pond skim before closing the season with another free concert in Steamboat Square.

Steamboat has also announced summer events and a 2026-27 season pass sale. Event details, registration information and sale dates are available on the resort’s website.
