Some closures of Outback Steakhouse, Bonefish Grill, and others nationwide. Is Colorado affected?

The parent company of Outback Steakhouse has permanently closed dozens of “underperforming” locations across the country. The closures were disclosed during the recent Bloomin’ Brands earnings call.

A total of 41 restaurant closures were announced, primarily affecting Outback Steakhouse locations, as well as a few others under the company’s ownership, such as Carrabba’s Italian Grill, Bonefish Grill, and Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar.

Bloomin’ Brands stated in a Wednesday release that “Closing restaurants is never easy.” The decision was made based on business considerations and does not reflect on the staff or their service. Many team members will have the opportunity to transfer to available positions at other restaurants, while those who do not will receive severance packages.

Recent reports from local news outlets indicate that Outback locations in Florida, Iowa, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, as well as the last remaining spots in Hawaii and New Hampshire, have closed. Furthermore, Bonefish Grill locations in New Jersey and Virginia, as well as Carrabba’s in Virginia and at least three restaurants in New York, have also been closed.

So far no Colorado locations have been affected.
