Sheena’s Midday Communiqué: Trisha & Garth Lend Their Voices & Keith Urban Hosts Benefit w/ Vince Gill

Family, friends and former leaders were on hand to say goodbye to former First Lady, Rosalynn Carter. Carter’s funeral took place in Atlanta, GA, yesterday. The service included musical performances from Pianist David Osborne, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chamber Chorus and Trisha Yearwood with Garth Brooks. The country power couple performed John Lennon’s Imagine to a packed church. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house.

Interestingly, Trisha and Garth had become good friends with the former president Jimmy and first lady. They bonded over their shared passion and commitment for Habitat for Humanity. The couple even stepped in to take over hosting duties for the annual Work Project this year. With the passing of Miss Rosalynn and Mr. Carter in hospice care, I wouldn’t be surprised if Trisha and Garth became the permanent faces of the housing charity.

Rosalynn Carter will be laid to rest on the “Carter compound” in Plains, GA, today.

Keith Urban & Vince Gill will host the "All for the Hall" benefit for the Country Music Hall of Fame, Dec. 5.

The Country Music Hall of Fame is gearing up for the All for the Hall, benefit show. The annual event raises money for the CMHoF and its affiliated education programs. Guests will be treated to performances from Trisha Yearwood, Kelsea Ballerini, Riley Green, Hardy, Patty Loveless and Brooks & Dunn. Apparently there are some surprise performances lined up as well.

The theme of the event this year is “The Song Remembers When.” Artists will play a song that conjures a deep, personal memory along with one of their hit songs. I think it will be fascinating to hear what each artist chooses for their memory song.

Keith Urban and Vince Gill are slated to host the all-star benefit. The All for the Hall show will take place at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on December 5.
